Happy Friday Friends!
Hope this finds you having a great day and excited of the weekend! I just got back from a week away, so this week has been a little hectic with catch up, but it's also been a few weeks of wonderful faves! Here are 5 things I have been loving lately...
{ONE} Jack Daniel's Distillery Tour
We took a little detour on the way to North Carolina and made a stop in Lynchburg, TN to pay homage to the legendary Jack Daniel's with a distillery tour. It was a bit of a pricey detour ($50 for the two of us), but we had been wanting to visit ever since we tried out Maker's Mark in Kentucky. While we did favor the Maker's Mark tour over Jack Daniel's Distillery it was still a lot of fun and worth a visit once! The history of the tour was really neat and ended with a tasting. Join us for a peek inside!!

{TWO} Time with Sweet Friends
I had been trying to get away to visit friends, planning to make a road trip out of it. I kept having to put it off and then it finally worked out in the best way possible. I was able to head to Birmingham to visit with one of my lifelong friends and her sweet babies, then loop through Huntsville to pick up Babe who was there for a work trip, before we headed to western NC for a couples weekend of winery touring with my bestie and her boy.
{THREE} Little Fires Everywhere
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is my book clubs selection for the month, so I put in for an audiobook hold on my library app and thankfully got it just in time to hit the road! I listened the entire drive to Alabama and finished on my last hour in the car solo after picking up Babe's car at my parents, where he parked so my dad could drop him at the airport. The drama and interweaving of the main family, as new neighbors shine light on the crux of adolescence and learning to play out your own story, kept me hooked. It starts with a bang and then slows a bit, but you find yourself immersed in each individuals story. While the end was not my favorite, it also wasn't terrible (I just don't like being left to wonder). I would definitely recommend it if you haven't read it yet!
{FOUR} Snagged some Disney Finds!
Now that we have our annual passes back I have been trying to find some Disney merchandise that's reasonable! I snagged this Hakuna Matata shirt for under $10 and then used FB Marketplace to get some trading pins for my niece to use in the parks. I got three super cute pins for $12 total. The cheapest pin I could find in the park was $11 and of course she liked the more expensive ones. I got these and will give them to her the next time we go so that she can trade for any that she wants. I figured she can trade each time and it's like she is always getting a new souvenir without me having to drop dimes (because I told her that would NOT be happening; Disney is happy enough, yo)!
{FIVE} Spent a Night at Epcot with Sweet Littles!
It was a week full of time with little (and big) kiddos that I adore! Nanny life has led me to so many great kids. My OGs are so grown and are truly wonderful. It is hard to believe that the 14 and 12 year olds I get to hang with now, were once just wee little babies. I spent Wednesday afternoon celebrating the 12th birthday of a kid I have watched since he was just a few weeks old. Then on Thursday I got to spend the night shutting down Epcot with the cutest little 3 and 4 year olds and their parentals! When little man said "this is the best day ever" my heart just soared!! Not a shabby way to end the week; not at all!!
How did you end your week?
What are some of your faves right now?
I have been thinking of becoming a Disney World annual passholder. Actually, my dream is to move to Florida (somewhere between Tampa and Orlando), so that I can go often and still continue my role as a teacher. Also, I loved Little Fires Everywhere. I read it last summer, and was finished reading it within a couple of hours.
ReplyDeleteDo it!! Hope you can make that dream a reality someday! Living close to Disney is the best :)
DeleteWell, your week was way more exciting than mine was! It has been too cold to do anything here in :( We have been wanting to do the Jack Daniels tour but just havent gotten around to it yet! You think it was worth the money and a little drive?
ReplyDeleteI would say I liked the Maker's Mark tour better for the amount of money you pay, but its definitely worth doing once! Plus the drive into Jack Daniel's (at least from the direction we were coming) is pretty!! It's a super fun date day!
DeleteSounds like a great week! Are the pins for trading with staff at Disney? We missed doing that on our last trip.
ReplyDeleteYes, you can trade with cast members (they all wear some on a lanyard and you can trade with any of them) or they have specific spots set up throughout the park with a whole bunch of pins on boards as designated trading spots.
DeleteI've been really anxious to read that book for a long time! I just keep (accidentally?) buying other books instead! LOL
ReplyDeleteHaha, I do the same thing!
DeleteI know what you mean about time with friends. Just hosted a chili cookout with some of our favorites. It one of my most favorite days of the year.
ReplyDeleteOh so fun!! We are actually doing that next weekend. It will be the first one we have ever gone to.
