Happy July 1st!
We are officially in the 7th month of the year, which means I hope 2020 is on the upswing! Fingers crossed, right?! This year has definitely already felt like the whole this next decade all got crammed into the first leg of it. Anyways... a new month means a new Currently Linkup with Anne, so here's what things are looking like around here lately.
{Cooking} Not alotta! We've been doing salads more often than not when we eat in. We had been eating terribly and trying to up our healthy greens intake. When we are going for a big meal we are trying to grab to-go from local businesses. Though we did just celebrate my SIL's birthday with a lovely meal of steaks and chicken on the grill. We had gotten a Kansas City Steaks box sent to my FIL for Father's Day and he wanted to share it, so we went over and the boys grilled them up. The seasoning provided was bomb! Sooo good and highly recommend as a gift for the guy in your life!
{Photographing} Again not alotta! I'm usually taking pictures of one thing or another for social media, but I did an unplanned digital detox for a few weeks which also meant I was picking up my phone a whole lot less and it was actually really, really nice!
{Sharing} A new YouTube video FINALLY! I had big goals to get a video a week up this month, buuuutttt that went to the wayside with my digital detox. I finally got another RV DIY finished just a few days ago and it's now up. Replacing the anode rod for the hot water heated was definitely our easiest RV DIY project to date, as well as the cheapest! Our water had been coming out fizzy (picture shaking up a bottle of seltzer water and then trying to sniff it) and tasting/smelling like metal. The anode rod replacement was a simple fix and made a world of difference!
{Trying} To do a bit of a coffee and sugar detox! I am not going full on no sweetener, but am instead trying to use honey more often and eat less processed, sugar filled products. The coffee is a little trickier, but I am doing about 2 days a week instead of everyday. It really wasn't doing anything to give me an energy boost anymore and was more so just a comfort of something warm in the morning. The first few days wasn't too fun, because the headache was real y'all! I like the feeling of it not having a hold over how my body feels and am going to start looking for other sources for a natural energy boost.
{Wondering} What fireworks on the beach will look like this year. They are banned this year in light of COVID, however, they are banned every year for one reason or another it seems and heaven knows people on the beaches aren't exactly adhering to any rules or precautions. Don't worry we will have a safe seat from the comfort of our balcony (perks to our current beach life living), but I am still curious to see what's going to fly- pun intended!

4th of July Tank {$17.99-19.99}- Just a little sassy fun for the 4th!
Overnight Face Mask {cost $13.49}- My face has been so read lately and rosewater seems to help, so I am giving this mask a try! Paraben-free with no harsh alcohols I am hoping it really does a number on the redness. Anyone have any other good redness reducing recommendations?
Sandproof Beach Blanket {$19.98}- Now that we are living on the beach it's been time to invest in something a little better for the days we spend down on the sand! I love the beach, but being covered in sand isn't my thing.
Sun Bum Sunscreen {$15}- I have been trying to clean up my body products and now that I am applying sunscreen more often sunscreen has been one of the things I am changing out. Some of the organic, mineral sunscreens just feel too cakey for me. I love Sun Bum! It's hypoallergenic, cruelty free, doesn't harm reefs and is paraben free with the same feel of typical sunscreen.
Where the Crawdads Sing {cost $9.59; currently on sale}- this is by far one of my favorite reads of the last few years and an overall favorite read ever; one I always recommend for someone looking for something new. A beautifully, haunting novel set in the bayou; it was just picked by one of the girls in my bookclub for this month and when the hardback was currently on super sale I had to share here!
That's it for me this month!
What is something you are trying or wondering about lately?!
Reducing my sugar intake makes a ton of difference for me. Its a simple way to really eat more whole foods when you have to avoid the sugar in all the processed food. Good luck with it! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am going to need all the luck I can get! I did turn down cookies yesterday though, so that's a start lol
DeleteI love this idea of sharing what you currently do! Cutting out soda (sighs in Coca-Cola) is a big one for me!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love a good Diet Coke every now and then, but if its something you enjoy daily it's even harder to cut back on!
DeleteGreat finds! And I reckon, sugar detox takes a lot of practice!
ReplyDeleteMaking little cuts slowly! Cold turkey is hard for me lol
DeleteI loved Where the Crawdads Sing! That book was my favorite read last year, hands down. And I love that you have a built in front seat for beach fireworks. Enjoy the fourth and stay safe. :)
ReplyDeleteSo good right?! And yes, we were very blessed with our firework view. Hope you had a wonderful 4th as well!
DeleteSad that everything is so different this year!!
ReplyDeleteNot going to lie...I am hoping for at least a few "stray/random" neighborhood fireworks tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteHope you got your wish!!
DeleteSun Bum is the go-to for the pale people of my household - bonus that I love the way it smells. Whenever I catch the scent, I can't help but think of summer :) And oooh those all sound like difficult detoxes, but ones I could probably use too!
ReplyDeleteRight?! It smells amazing!!
DeleteIf I was on the beach, I would definitely need one of those blankets! Hope you had a nice - and safe - 4th of July!
