Hello, June!
Spring is on it's way out the door, summer is on the horizon and it's time for another monthly Currently catchup. Here's a peek at life lately...
{May Recap}
We spent the month of May fast-pacing our way north. We enjoyed time with family in Tennessee while we waited for Babe's computer to come in. From there we went to Pennsylvania and did a week in Gettysburg, then moved into NY for a week near Niagara Falls. Gettysburg was a very surreal experience. The park is so beautiful, but it's crazy to think about the amount of lives lost there and the history the ground holds. We also did our first Segway tour and LOVED it! Definitely our new favorite way to cover a lot of ground and history at once.
On our way to our week long spot in NY we stayed at a great boondocking spot for one night. Sugar Hill Fire Tower was so peaceful and the fire tower gave expansive views with a glimpse at the Finger Lakes. Plus it's close to Watkins Glen, which is definite must see!
Now onto June...
{Celebrating} That we made it to Maine!! This was our big bucket list state for this round of full-time RV life and we're here!! It was pretty foggy on the drive up US 1, but today the skies have cleared and our current park has a view of the ocean. We are planning to spend two weeks in Bar Harbor to explore Acadia National Park and then two weeks elsewhere- current destination unknown.
{Collecting} Keepsakes from each spot we've visited. Usually it's stickers for my Yeti, but I also collect rocks or cool pieces of wood to eventually turn into Christmas ornaments.
{Gifting} Do postcards count? Trying to send a handful out each place we go. Otherwise we're not big on gifting "things". We treat each other to nice dinners and are far more experience "gifters" when it comes to friends and fam.
{Thinking} That I am not sure how I feel about Dear Evan Hansen being made into a movie. The story is powerful, and honestly so needed in today's society. I saw the play a few years ago though and it completely wrecked me. As someone who has lost a sibling it can be very triggering. While the brother in Dear Evan Hansen dies by suicide, the sisters character very much mirrored my own story of losing my brother to a drug overdose. Be prepared to be wrecked by the Dear Evan Hansen movie either way, but if you have lost a sibling it can be even more triggering and I feel like you should be aware of that upfront. This video was made as my initial followup reaction to seeing Dear Evan Hansen.
{Trying} All the fresh seafood up in Maine! We had some delicious clam chowder and there's a lobster pound less than a mile from our RV park. We plan to ride bikes over there one evening for lobster rolls and to grab some fresh lobster to grill out one night. If you have never done garlic butter stuffed lobsters on the grill you need to give them a try!! We've never had them this fresh though so we are looking forward to it.
That's it for now!
What does your world look like currently?!
Yay for making it to Maine. It sounds like you had some fun sightseeing, etc. as you made your way there.

We definitely tried to fit in as much as we can!
DeleteLooks like a gorgeous trip! We went from Kansas thru Oklahoma to Texas to visit family there then drove thru New Mexico on our way to Colorado for Vacation with friends around Breckenridge! I'm definitely planning on a long trip like this soon to see some amazing sites!
ReplyDeleteLove long drive trips like that! More flexibility to stop when you see something cool.
DeleteWelcome to Maine - woo hoo!! What fun you guys are having...thanks for sharing along the way!:)
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo- thanks!
DeleteYay for making it to Maine! I just love Maine and we try to get there at least once a year.. if the winters there weren't so darn cold I'd move there in a heartbeat! We brought our boys to Niagara falls just a couple of years ago and they loved getting wet/ drenched really under the falls. Enjoy your lobsters.
ReplyDeleteThis is our first time here and it is magical! Everything is just starting to open up. It's crazy that it all shuts down every year.
DeleteWhat a great couple of month! Maine sounds amazing and I hope to get there one day to explore too. What a grand adventure.
ReplyDeleteIt really is a magical state! Hope you get to make it here soon.
DeleteWe were in Niagara for a race 2 years ago such a fun place to visit. Sounds like a great trip for all of you
ReplyDeleteRight?! So cool to think about how powerful that water is.
DeleteWow, what a lot of great vistas you encountered in the last month - and I can't wait to hear more about Maine. Definitely would love to get there. And I love the idea of gifting experiences and nice dinners, especially when you're visiting so many new places.
ReplyDeleteMaine is wonderful! Would make a great spot for a family vacay one summer.
DeleteMust try all the seafood in Maine! So jealous, need some fresh clam chowder and lobsters in my life.
ReplyDeleteWe had some of the BEST clam chowder the night we got here! Tried a lobster roll yesterday and it was so-so. Going to get some fresh lobster to grill up, because we prefer it chargrilled, but glad we tried the roll!
DeleteLooks like an amazing trip!!! We moved to Hudson Valley last summer and have been wanting to go up to Watkins Glen and Niagara but haven't made it yet... maybe this summer!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll make it over! Both spots were wonderful.
DeleteCongrats on making it to Maine! Maine has been on my must see list for a while now. Maybe this year, but more likely next.
ReplyDeleteWhenever you can get here you will LOVE it! It's is magical.
DeleteWe want to do an East Coast road trip at some point and Maine is definitely on our list. Stupid Covid has put everything on hold though (boo) so we'll have to wait another year or two to get there.
ReplyDeleteIt will just make it all the more special once you can get here!
DeleteThose pictures were awesome. I love that first one....wow. I love what you're collecting and I definitely think postcards count as gifting. I saw a neat DIY that collected postcards from each place and wrote highlights from that day or trip and then bound them together in a little book. So neat.
